研究目标：针对国家粮食安全和耐密植强优势高产玉米新品种培育重大需求，解析现代玉米育种过程中耐密理想株型的选择规律、遗传基础和分子机理，克隆调控玉米株高、穗位高、叶夹角、抗虫、抗旱等重要农艺性状的关键基因，建立新型高效生物育种技术体系，为培育高产、抗逆玉米新品种提供理论依据和技术支撑。
Research Objectives: Using functional genomics approaches to identify and characterize the key genes and regulatory networks controlling yield, abiotic stress-related agronomic traits and contributing to adaptation to increased planting density; investigating the genetic impacts of selection during modern maize breeding; exploiting the selective sweeps/genes involved in maize domestication and breeding, and developing novel breeding technologies which will lay the foundation for molecular breeding of new cultivars with increased yield and stress-tolerance.
