参与获得农业部颁发的四张用家蚕生产的动物用基因工程产品的安全生产许可证，其中用家蚕表达的口蹄疫病毒VLP制备的疫苗获得了农业部在全国8个省市销售的许可证，实现了我国动物用VLP疫苗的突破。目前在用家蚕生产猪圆环病毒、猪细小病毒、兔瘟、水貂肠炎病毒的VLP疫苗和动物复合干扰素等基因工程产品上均取得了重大进展。
主持或参加国家自然科学基金、973、863、国际合作等项目。
主要成果：
获国家科技进步二等奖一项，省部级科技进步一、二等奖四项。荣获国务院特殊津贴、新世纪国家百千万人才工程国家级人选、农业部有突出贡献的中青年专家、中国农业科学院学科带头人、江苏省“青蓝工程”学术带头人等荣誉。获得农业部遗传工程安全委员会颁发的安全生产证书四份（第二申请人），自2000年来发表SCI源论文48篇(第一或通讯作者30篇)，授权国际或国家发明专利12项，指导的博士论文获2009年全国百篇优秀博士论文提名奖。

8、2009年，全国优秀博士学位论文提名奖：博士研究生：周庆祥；指导教师：张志芳 家蚕无鳞片翅突变体scaleless产生机理的研究 。

1985年-1991年，中国农业科学院蚕业研究所工作，助理研究员；
1999年-2004年，中国农业科学院蚕业研究所工作，研究员（2001年）从事家蚕杆状病毒表达系统工作；
2004年1月至今中国农业科学院生物技术研究所研究员。
